Our Ministry

Our heart is to keep pastors in their pulpits, missionaries on their fields, and members faithful in their local churches for the furtherance of the Gospel and the glory of God.

For this reason, Selah International Counseling Ministries exists.

Our Philosophy

Biblical transformation is more than behavior modification. It is about changing who or what you worship; it is a heart change that will influence our desires, and will affect the way we think, respond, make decisions, and interact with others. The Bible teaches that it is possible and it is expected that a true follower of Christ will be able to renew his mind so that he does not continue living a life that conforms to this world and that does not please God. Romans 12:1-2 Another evidence of heart transformation is the way that one reflects the image of the Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 3:18 Our heart submission and dying to self is the only way that we will be able to live this kind of life. Galatians 2:20 This power comes from one source: “For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.” 1 Corinthians 1:18. It is the power of the Holy Spirit working in and through us that will produce true, satisfying, biblical transformation.

Biblical counseling is the belief that the Scriptures are sufficient to deal with any personal or interpersonal problem a believer faces in their life that is not related to a physical or a medical diagnosis. Secular psychological explanations are harmful to the believer’s spiritual growth and maturity. 2 Timothy 3:16-17

We believe that the local church is the foundation for continued spiritual growth and biblical transformation. For mature believers who have established godly patterns of resolving conflict, resisting temptation, and sharing their faith, simply being under the preaching and teaching of a solid local church will equip, encourage, and convict. 2 Timothy 3:14-17 However, considering the state of our current culture, many ministry leaders are finding that the need for personal discipleship is constantly increasing due to a distorted view of biblical Christianity, ungodly habits, and sinful thought patterns that are difficult to change.

One of the goals of Selah International Counseling Ministries is to come alongside local churches and help strengthen them by conducting “spiritual health checkups.”  We believe that we should be intentionally helping our families and ministries build biblical boundaries in order to lessen the need for crisis programs. Preventing failed marriages and broken relationships is far better than healing after a crisis. These “checkups” are designed to support local churches and believers by drawing attention to specific weak areas that need confrontation and care before they escalate into a crisis. 2 Corinthians 10:4-5

At times, there will be a need for a spiritual “emergency room” for those needing confidentiality and intensive, personal counseling over a period of several days. Sometimes, the needs are deeper and merit a separation from distractions for a few days of urgent attention. We see this with issues such as grief, depression, family conflict, or marital crises.  God has provided for Selah International various ministry partnerships in multiple states who offer affordable and private lodging in quiet settings for those needing this level of counseling. Hebrews 12:12-13
